Project Golestan Residential Interior Design
Golestan Residence occupies about 6,115 sq.ft (≈568 m²) and was completed in 2022. The project embodies a dialogue between modern design and the timeless spirit of Iranian architecture. From the earliest phase of construction, our dual role as project manager and co-designer allowed for a seamless integration of spatial concept, detail, and material integrity.
The trapezoidal living room—originally a design challenge—became the project’s defining feature. A curved seating layout was introduced to generate harmony and intimacy within the irregular geometry. To enrich the spatial experience, three custom hand-woven Persian rugs, designed and produced over eight months, were tailored to the home. The central circular carpet, inspired by the dome geometry of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, symbolizes gathering and unity, while the rectangular rugs define the dining and reading areas.
Natural materials such as stone, wood, and cement form a tactile palette that grounds the space in warmth and authenticity. The south terrace, enclosed with bamboo screens and equipped with retractable roofs, extends living activities outdoors throughout the year. The north terrace, designed as a dedicated children’s playhouse, introduces a sense of joy and domestic vitality.
Subtle Persian motifs appear in plaster details, textiles, and furniture design, while a sculptural chandelier—evoking galactic motion—acts as a metaphor for the flow of energy and life within the home.
Setareh Golestan Residence ultimately transforms tradition into a living architectural experience, where geometry, light, and nature coexist in poetic balance.
