Our team’s involvement in the Golestan project from the very beginning as the project manager and designer collaborator allowed us to initiate the interior design process of this residential unit in accordance with the client’s request for a harmonious space that aligns with the project’s overall spirit. The residents of this house were an Iranian-Arab family who desired a modern space with an Iranian touch.

One of the main challenges we faced in this project was the trapezoidal plan of the reception area. To address this, we proposed a solution that involved placing a curved furniture set with a circular arrangement in the center of gravity of the reception area. This not only provided sufficient seating but also created an intimate and friendly layout. Additionally, to enhance the overall aesthetic and harmonize with the carpet arrangements, we opted for large circular carpets. Three handwoven Iranian rugs were chosen, one in a circular shape to evoke a nostalgic and period-appropriate feeling for the trapezoidal-shaped hall, and two rectangular rugs, one for the front of the library and the other under the dining table. These rugs took approximately 8 months to complete.

The terraces played a significant role in the overall space of the house. Due to the available space on this floor, which was not part of the legal area due to the presence of the lobby and swimming pool on the lower floor, we were able to utilize these areas by opening the retractable ceilings. On the southern terrace, we placed a barbecue, table, and chairs, while on the northern terrace, we designed and implemented a playhouse specifically for the children at their request. Our aim was to incorporate both modern design elements and the essence of Iranian architecture. The designs used in gypsum work, curtain fabrics, table designs, etc., were inspired by authentic Iranian patterns. Furthermore, the carpet design followed the beautiful geometry of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque dome in Isfahan.

The overall concept of this design drew inspiration from nature and utilized natural geometry and organic forms. Additionally, in the middle of the reception area, we incorporated a light fixture that symbolizes the movement of galaxies and represents the flow of nature and life itself.
